Chako Ishibashi is a normal middle schooler at a normal school having normal school days. However, there is one oddity in Chako's everyday life—the student sitting at the desk next to her, Shibainuko-san. What is it about her that Chako finds strange? The answer is simple: Shibainuko-san doesn't look like a human at all. Instead, she looks just like a Shiba Inu! Polite, well-meaning, and with the mannerisms of both a dog and a human, Shibainuko-san is loved by all. However, Chako notices that her classmates seem oblivious to Shibainuko-san's physical appearance. Can a dog go to school and be a normal student? Join Chako and her best friend Naho on bite-sized misadventures with their unusual classmate, who may or may not actually be a dog. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Judging a series by the length of the episodes can be quite difficult to refuse but looking past that, Shiba Inuko-san is a very entertaining series of VERY SHORT episodes that involve 3 characters. With plenty of funny moments in this series under the major constraint of having only roughly 90 seconds of actual content. Considering the fact that you are only spending at most 2 regular episode lengths watching this, you are getting the bang for your buck. If you want a few chuckles, Shiba Inuko-san is a good place to start.

Shiba Inuko-san delivers exactly what it promises: cute, innocuous shorts showing two high-school girls and a cute dog. There's no story to speak of in such shorts; your enjoyment of it will boil down to whether the premise appeals to you. It's a slice-of-life style absurd comedy that delivers sweet, simple moments in each episode. It even squeezes in a tiny beach episode! The three main characters are pretty average, likeable high school girls/canines, and they are never annoying. I think it's impressive that they managed to squeeze in two different openings in a series that is literally only 26 minutes long content-wise! Both are average; the secondone is the better one. The art is pretty simple and standard fair; appropriate for the tone of a high-school setting. The dog is (obviously) cute. Overall, I think if you like cute animals or high school settings, then it's worth half an hour of your time. It's not super memorable, but it is what it is. I think it would actually work well as a longer series - even as 5 minute shorts - as I think there's plenty of comedic potential in the set-up. Alas.
