Well, what can you say for an anime that lasts 1m 27s :S. It's essentially a type of romantic thing that i suppose is fairly typical in theme to much of Shinkai's work. It's a sort of silent movie with two characters simply talking about their relationship. Everything within is essentially designed to be simplistic, from the b+w colouring to the absence of spoken dialogue which I think works well within its own context. For something so short I thought it was fairly enjoyable.

In less than two minutes we are told a story that touches the typical themes found in works by Shinkai. In other words, the focus lies on drama, romance and, naturally, clouds. But despite Tooi Sekai being as simple as possible due to solely having been created by Shinkai himself, it does not hit home. In seven silent sentences we are told an ultimately forgettable story that comes across more as an idea, an experiment to test his skills, than something with a point. There is nothing wrong with this. However, it is not very exciting to watch.
