First, I would like to say, I was out on the search for a more female audience oriented hentai that featured more consentual acts that didn't have things like x-ray, blood with their virgins, and stuff like that and I more than got that sort of thing. I also got a hentai which focused heavily on dare I say it, a captain save a hoe style character. He is always there when these women are sad and yeah, he does take advantage of that. But it doesn't feel like it is wrong. He always knows what to say, and what to do, and how to pleasethem. And I really like that. There aren't many hentai like this. I really appreciated the lingering shots on his cum face. Not many hentai do that. I enjoyed the retro art and animation. I thought it was well done given how old it was. It was certainly better animated than even some later hentai I have seen. Like even some hentai animated ten years later for some reason don't look as good as this to me. Probably do to the highly appealing characters for me. I very much appreciated the standard breast sizes which were not fetish. I enjoyed the bounces that were "normal". I enjoyed things like no xray... no weird cum faces... no blowjob faces... people looked how they should actually look. Everything was very much normal. It was like just a normal story that happened to have sex in it. I appreciated it. I really want to give bonus points to this hentai because with each episode I wanted more and more to actually have sex. And I did have sex in episode three with my husband to the girl who was tied up. I did appreciate that the protag did not have sex with her like that and waited for her to calm herself before actually screwing her. It was about the nicest girlfriend stealing I ever saw in hentai. lol. He was... very polite. And someone I wanted to fuck to while watching. He was quite sexy for me. Doukyuusei is a......delightful time capsule of mediocrity. I watched this out of curiosity since I've played a few hours of the Visual Novel remake that released in 2021 - and I will say, it was really neat to compare Bangin Summer's vibrant modern artstyle with this four episode anime from the 90s. Miho's design is especially fun here, even if she's deligated to a pretty minor character! There's also a couple of other women from the game that only get one or two scenes, so it's very blink or you'll miss it, and I liked that too Okay so the plot - basically, the protagonist isSome Guy called Wataru, who is in love with Mai but in each episode, keeps crossing paths and having to deal with other women first. And by this, I mean he bangs them and then they fade into the background (if not disappear entirely) for the rest of the episodes. It's your standard Visual Novel dating sim route layout converted into a show Unfortunately, Doukyuusei is quite hard to follow despite its fairly simple story, because the subtitles are ABSOLUTE dogshit. Oh my Christ, they're so bad. It's not just the copy I watched either, as this complaint comes up fairly often in other discussions. Very little of the lines are grammatically correct and others are just plain confusing or contradictory. They also seem to get worse as the episodes progress??? With the third one being especially hard to follow at points. In a way though, the butchered subtitles add some charm as you attempt to decipher what was just said As for the H scenes, you know what, they're honestly fairly good, albiet not extremely explicit. Each episode essentially ends with one, as Wataru "gets" the girl that's been the focus this time. I think the first two episodes do them best, with Satomi in episode 2 being the peak for me. It's almost sensual, like they weren't written 100% with male viewers in mind - although admittedly, it's like 90% lol. The last two episode's H scenes, however, aren't as strong, with episode 3 unfortunately crawling towards uncomfortable territory for me. This episode deals with a character who is conflicted, unsure if she wants to go through with things, so one moment she's like "yess" and the other, she'll say things such as "no, stop". Plus as I said, this is an episode where the subtitle quality degrades the hardest, making intentions somewhat blurry. From a character perspective, uncertainty makes sense. From a viewer perspective as someone who's just not very good at stomaching that kinda thing, some feelings of unease arrised throughout. Side note - there's a shot where the protag is going down on a girl and it's reflected in the screen of an old CRT computer monitor, which goes kinda hard, like you know that shit would do absolute numbers on 2015 tumblr Ultimately - do I ultimately recommend Doukyuusei? Not really. Do I regret taking two hours out of a night where I was feeling a bit down to watch it? Not really
