Shin Hazama has shut his heart ever since the mysterious and sudden death of his mother during his childhood. With his scientist father occupied with research, he can only rely on his childhood friend, Kotori Izumi, the popular and good-natured daughter of his father's employer. At the end of their third year of high school with graduation right around the corner, Shin and Kotori finally begin to move forward together, both in life and in love. Everything falls apart again when Shin's father also suddenly dies. But before things can settle down, he and Kotori learn the secret behind his parents' sudden deaths when they encounter agents from a high-tech dystopian Japan existing in a parallel universe. Among them is Jin, Shin's "relative self," who is working against the humanoid weapons Miko and Niko. As the lives of relative selves are linked, Jin has two objectives: defend the vulnerable Shin to protect both their lives, and assassinate Kotori to end the ironclad rule of her relative self, Princess Kotoko—his mortal enemy and the killer of his parents. Confronted with this new reality, Shin and Kotori must honestly face their feelings for each other, even if the world as they know it will end tomorrow. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

“If I had to live in a world without you, it would be so uncomfortable.” Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo, or translated as “even if the world ends tomorrow”, is considered to be a drama, romance, action, and sci-fi movie. While this movie holds an interesting concept and great potential, they were executed poorly. It is not entirely bad, but rather a disappointing one. Story - 4/10 Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is a story of two people, involving two worlds, or so-called two Japan. The story itself is easy to follow and understandable. Only the confusing part is the ending due to a lack of proper explanationof its logic. While the first half of the movie is mainly drama and romance, the other half is mainly action and sci-fi. The sci-fi concept is interesting and explained clearly, but the drama and the romance element are not being executed very well. They do exist in the movie, but they had no effects on me at all, mainly due to being driven by lifeless characters, which will be explained later in the characters section. Animation - 4/10 The overall art of Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is vibrant, it consists of nice scenery art, but not-so-good 3D art style on characters. Using a 3D art style on characters is somewhat a bad idea for 3 reasons. First, it does not go well with the scenery art, next, it mostly came out low-quality and low-FPS, and lastly, it is difficult or unnatural for characters to show emotions or expressions. Watching this movie is like watching an in-game cutscene, but it lags. The sequences in action scenes are made pretty fine, but it still lags. It is true that if the FPS is too high it would become weird for an anime, but this is too low, making it disturbing to watch. Sound - 7/10 Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo consists of an insert song and an ending song by Aimyon, which I personally feel neutral towards them, but they might be perfect for fans of Aimyon or people who have their music tastes matched. As for soundtracks, I considered them to be standard, I am not a sound expert, so I would say that I find nothing outstanding and nothing bugged me. Characters - 4/10 As being said, Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo holds great potential, but these lifeless characters ruined it, probably resulted from using 3D art style on characters. They literally do not show any facial expressions, whether it is joy or sadness. Only love is shown in speech and fear is shown in screams. As for the other parts, background and motive of all characters are being told clearly, they are not detailed, but enough to understand them and the story. Enjoyment - 4/10 I enjoyed the sci-fi concept and the vibrance of the art. Action scenes are fairly enjoyable, but romance and drama elements are not. What I did not enjoy the most were lifeless characters, the 3D art style used on them, and the low FPS. Recommendations Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo is not a bad watch, but it is not a good one either. The movie did not reach my standards and expectations, but it might reach yours. If you like sci-fi, I encourage you to give this movie a try. Enjoy!

In one overly lengthy sentence: A somewhat non-directional and puzzling plot inception carried by my morbid curiosity along with interest in genres tagged, followed by a promising and intriguing development of the storytelling and, hence, natural inveiglement, proceeded to build up to a painful, messy, nonsensical climax finished by another perplexing conclusion, having only real thing accomplishing a recurring and completed cycle of utter confusion, resulting in dissatisfied feeling and a subpar, under average grade as modestly presented by yours truly. Thank you for reading my sentence which I made as bewildering as possible, just like how was the film. P.S. CGI SUCKED.
