I was planning to write a review on this anime anyways, but after reading the only other review, I now have to write one.... (the other review was really bad... if you couldn't tell already) This review is spoiler free so feel free to read it before you watch. Xing Chen Bian is a Chinese anime I found while going though the romance genre on MAL. I decided to give it a go since it had a decent rating. With that being said, there are zero romance in this anime, ZERO. so if romance is the only thing you care about, move along cuz you ain't findingit here. Let's start with the story, it's pretty basic. We all have seen an anime where the main character is told that he is hopeless and can't do great things, and somehow he becomes OP. Well, this is one of those. The main character Qin, Yu was born without the special gift to hold power within himself, so he was deemed useless. Although his father never gave up on him and loved him very much, he didn't have high hopes for him. The story begins with a flash back (or I guess flash foreword) of a bit of the last episode, and then cuts back to Yu's childhood. The plot itself wasn't bad but it lacks creativity in the bigger picture (6/10) The music used in this anime was great as with almost all Chinese anime, they add on to the mood and gives the scenes which have music more character. The background soundtrack as well as the sound affects are also very well done, nothing felt out of place. (9/10) This anime uses CGI combined with real human motion capture, so while the animation is presented in 3D, everything is very smooth and sometimes felt real. It is not perfect however as some scenes still feels edited. Overall the art was nice to look at so (9/10) Now on to some of my small nit-picks. The pacing felt off on the earlier half of the anime, some things I felt could have been cut shorter and vice versa, however I understand that could just be personal reference. The dialog sometime have unnecessary pauses and charters just kinda of stood there doing nothing. There was many times were it felt more like cut-scenes from a RPG rather than an anime. But hey, these are just some of the things I found odd. Last but not least, the translation. I was born in China and lived there for 12 years before I moved to Canada, so my first language is Chinese. Chinese as a language in nature is more complicated than English, so any Chinese anime you watch will be better if you understood Chinese. As this anime takes place in a fantasy version of China a few hundred years ago, the language used is sometimes complicated and when translated, lose some of its meaning. So just keep that in mind if the translation doesn't make sense sometimes. Overall, this was a fairly enjoyable anime to watch. It is definitely not a masterpiece or something close to it, but if you just want something to watch and pass the time, this anime is not a bad choice. Overall a 7.2 out of 10 in my books. Give it a go and see what you think!

It's first time for me make review sorry if its not good this anime was so great, i must write this because many of you maybe doubt to watch because maybe waste ur time, but i must tell u for me this anime is the best chinese anime chi gong/cultivation. Story is like how he grown to be strong like zero to hero, but i think that was not new but the strong point is about relationship with your family. Art is just okay, nothing special if you compared to most modern japan anime but for chinese anime its so good like how they put and mix onescene to another scene is smooth so you still can enjoy without confusing the plot. Sound is one of their strong point, chinese feel so great mix and match at every scene. Character just focus on MC and some of them not much exposed, not much romance or comedy because lack scene about MC and his friend he just advanture with his pet. Very enjoyment like you would be bring to chinese fantasy vibe with dragon and another myth animal, and how MC past and his effort to become strong for his family many lesson can you take. Overall was great and worth to watch for who like anime zero to hero with no harem just pure about how he can get strong step by step with back story especially the ending was so epic.
